Er Sen Poh's House - Poh Kwong Park

I remember on Sundays, after Sunday school, Aunty Angela will bring us home with her and we'll have lunch at Er Sen Poh and Er Suk Kung's place. I remember the yummy porridge that Er sen Poh use to cook.. and the yummy but HOT curry.. - Mind you, I didn't take spicy food then. I had to take one bite of curry, and then one glass of ice water.. one bite of curry.. and one glass of ice water... and that's how I learnt to eat spicy food. Thanks to Er Sen Poh's curry :)

Er sen Poh use to have a Leng Khim (custard apple) tree at the back too.. and whenever it fruits, she'd save it for us when we come by on Sundays.. Usually there's only one (as it's a small tree) so Zoe and I had to go halves.. (yes, dads and uncles.. it's a bit like having one egg shared between 2 brothers). Er Sen Poh knew how much we enjoy the Leng Khim.. that she'll keep it in the fridge for us, in many instances by the time we're at her place on Sundays, the skin of the fruit is already 'black' and it'll be really ripe too. Oh and I remember Er Sen Poh telling me that she had to 'ward' of 'evil' uncles that wanted to consume the fruit (namely Ah Ni Suk Suk aka Tony. Not sure whether h Kong Suk Suk was one of them too?)

Once in a blue moon, Er Sen Poh will make "Seang Tiow" (ice lolly) .. The white coloured one's my favourite.. i think it's made out of 'seng kam' ie fresh lime?

Oh.. I remember watching Er Sen Poh cook and she'll make fish balls (scraping the meat off the fresh fish.. ).. Not sure whether she made fish porridge or soup... BUT I remember I was standing there.. watching her cook.. and was rather intrigued. :)

ok. Back to work. Lunch break's over.
